Not really sure what’s going on here. There little context to the photo, and the typography and track listing make little sense. Maybe that’s the point? Or am I missing something?

There’s no mistaking that this is a live CD, what with the focus of the photo and the reds and yellows hinting at the stage lighting. Reminds me a lot of Kutless’ live CD cover.

Release: I Heard a Voice: Live from Long Beach Arena
Label: Tiny Evil
Designer: John Shearer (photography)
Release Date: November 13, 2007

The Shearer credit for the photos are probably for the live shots inside the booklet, not anything to do with the cover. Regardless, crows/ravens have been a staple of gothic-influenced bands ever since Poe started fidgeting with the idea of lost loves and Greek mythology, so it makes sense that AFI would use it here, especially in the context of the album title.

The problem with the internet webscreen is that photo or scans of print design can’t communicate things like texture or transparency well, or at all, actually. This is a good illustration (hah) of the former. This may be just a plain paper design, but it could be a real leather(ish) book acting as a case. Any promo people out there have an idea, seeing as it has yet to be released? The world may never know.

Label: Peaceville UK
Designer: ???
Release Date: November 20, 2007

Nicely-done painting, which may or may not have something to do with the concept behind their Still Life studio album. “Faces of Melinda” comes to mind prima facie since it is on here, though it’s the only one from Still Life that they play. Either way, they can do no wrong as long as they use their beautiful, flourishy “O” logo.
