Saturday Staff Blog: Free Photoshop Book

I came across a free downloadable PDF book with scads handy Photoshop tricks, located here. Yeah, you have to give them your email address, so just make sure to not sign up for their newsletters, assuming you don’t want them.

A lot of the content is basic knowledge, but I relearned a few things I had forgotten. Plus, there’s a million ways to do the same thing in Photoshop, so you may find a nice shortcut or two in there.

So I managed to start things back up again here, if only a measly post a day. I’m going to ease myself back into the normal posting output, much like how a crotchety old man will ease into his favorite Barcalounger - you know the one: has the wooden recliner handle on the side with the worn finish, and duct tape on the arm rest.

So this SSB is merely a warning/promise, and don’t blame me for the title. I asked the wife for a word and that’s what she came up with. She is class.

Saturday Staff Blog: Still Alive

I’ve seen a few comments wondering of my status and the status of aGd. Thanks for the concern. I mean that.

Well, the last few weeks have seen me buried pit-deep at my real job (finally got hired permanently), which has been sucking the time and much energy from my skinny butt.

Additionally I have been putting a little more focus on putting the finishing touches/chapters on my book, which has slowly grown in an uncontrollable beast of fictional (hah) proportions.

I will try to get at least a few posts up a week. I don’t want to close something like this down unless there’s no absolute way I can do anything with it, or if I can’t find a suitable replacement, or an act of God destroys our hosting place, my external harddrive, and my sweet Macbook. Until the smoke clears from the elements listed above, aGd will remain a bit on the downlow.

Saturday Staff Blog: Out Of Commission

You may have noticed the lack of posts the last few days. I’ve been trying to fight off some nasty bug for the last week or so, and that involves sleeping more than I care for. Add to that not having insurance and working a full-time job in a busy season and that leaves little room for blogging endeavors.

Expect things back in full swing by Monday. If not, please call a doctor of some sort.

Saturday Staff Blog: Read Or Die

I’m going to go light on y’all today. Light from me, but heavy from someone else, namely Gerard Van der Leun.

About a year ago I read a blog post that stuck with me even to this day, and that’s saying a lot considering how many posts I read and how many posts are in existence (last official count was somewhere in the 500’s, internet-wide). The only problem was that I lost the permalink to it. Well, I recently found it again.

This is the SSB where I brag about how much present-stuff I received. I did well, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Here’s the highlights.

Saturday Staff Blog: Light The Night, Part 2

I took some photos of the full moon a few weeks ago, using the “nighttime” setting on my consumer-grade digital camera and a super slow shutter speed. There were scattered groups of the awesome cumulus mediocris clouds, which are low level and very shapely with hard borders - perfect for those creepy and rapid moon-cloud eclipses. As per last Saturday’s blog, I did a little design of my quasi-epitaph.
