This is one of those album covers that has seeped into the American/British subconscious that some of us younger ones know its scores of imitations and parodies more intimately than the original. Technically, it’s not that great of a photograph. It’s slightly off-center with the road’s center line dashes, the differing y-axis positions where the curbs meet the edges, and so forth. But that is irrelevant. The image, and music, stuck; one of the many examples of seemingly unremarkable art eventually being inducted into a culture’s iconic lexicon.
