Artist: Spitfire
Release: Cult Fiction
Label: Goodfellow
Designer: ???
Release Date: March 25, 2008
From the rejected pile of Rob Zombie album designs. Although I wouldn’t call this offensive per se, the term “tasteful” doesn’t come to mind, either.

It is somewhat fitting with the concept of the album I suppose, but yeah, tasteless, and not really pushing design.

Posted 07 Jan 2008 at 10:56 pm ¶LOL @ smick
Posted 08 Jan 2008 at 8:26 am ¶I’d almost bet money this will end up in some sort of sleeve, or with some sort of ugly cover sheet with a PA sticker in front of it like Phantom Limb did.
btw Loves me some Spitfire. \m/

The cover, i’m assuming, was designed by their bassist Dan Tulloh.

Just seems like maybe that could be what’s up with….this. They had some photos of different cult groups and people interspersed throughout their myspace blog studio updates.

There are a few there. That would certainly put this in some sort of context. If anyone has a hard copy of this CD it might help to look through it.
Also, someone left a comment on their myspace, on the image of their album cover:

I also found the photo here, on a Hispanic-language site:

But then I also found it here. It’s actually LaVey. What a clown.

(click his linked name a little ways down…beware, the design of the site is scarier than the content)
Yeah, Jay. We’re gonna solve this case.
Posted 25 Jan 2008 at 9:57 am ¶Haha, I guess. They just used a tasteless photo of a satanic ritual. Maybe that’s all there is to it?

Posted 12 Apr 2008 at 9:22 am ¶great cover. wonderful use of type. dirty poloroid is done but the little date on the side is a nice detail left alone. i would have possibly lost the border though. love the small red band name, refreshing with the amount of metal covers overdoing it. the F is beauiful. photo is intriguing, despite it’s previous context. one of the better covers i’ve seen this year.
p.s. nipples are gone, so it’s SFC (c meaning christians)

A collection of old grimy photos of death and fanaticism, mixed with imagery of animals, weapons, war machines and corporate logos on floral textures, all on a way-too-slick paper stock that somehow adds to the disturbing quality of it all.
